Its been a super busy week in the bay shaping EPS blanks with veneer stringers and stringerless blanks with Karboload layups, over 75% of these have been CabSav2’s. I can now shape them in my sleep!
I use premium grade EPS (Expanded polystyrene) foam glassed with epoxy resin to create a strong, light, responsive board. The blanks are premium grade US Blanks or Marko EPS foam EPS cores with veneer stringers which are glassed by Sel Surf using epoxy resin systems. Epoxy resin is a healthier alternative to polyester as epoxy emits fewer volatile organic compounds than polyester resin, which means a decrease in harmful chemicals in the environment. EPS foam is also known for it’s great durability ensuring your board lasts a long time.
Shaping Karboload boards is keeping me extremely busy with orders going through the roof. Karboload is the only carbon/epoxy glassing layup out there where its two unique attributes, Parallel Performance (on the deck) and Y-Flex (on the bottom), work seamlessly together to best utilise the performance attributes of carbon. Our Karboload boards utilise carbon in this layup to best enhance it’s potential and flex/recoil properties. It’s also the only tech to effectively manage this across all three planes of a surfboards flex: longitudinally, torsionally and transversely, but more importantly in the right places along the board.
Speed and response through rail transitions and turns is even and smooth and directly hinges off the surfer’s foot pressure and centre of gravity. A major bonus is it is not an exclusive small-wave tech- our testing has shown it maintains performance above 4 foot with the correct manipulation of flex through different fibreglass layups. Importantly too- the carbon is utilised on the outer layers of deck and bottom- so that it is truly in tension when the surfboard flexes (in internal carbon laminates, the amount of tension and therefore energy feedback, decreases parabolically towards the centre of the core as the surfboard flexes).
The result is a light, strong, fast, high performance board that looks insane and surfs great too. Carbon Inspired Surfboard Intelligence is here. #patentpending #karboload #igniteyoursurfing#askyourshaper To read more about Karboload Technology: www.joistiksurfboards.com/
